Jacquie Riddell, director of public engagement, Art Gallery of NSW
Jacquie Riddell is a creategist – a creative strategist- and senior executive with over 25 years experience in media and marketing innovation and leadership. She has created television channels and radio stations; new program formats and digital media concepts; developed world-famous marketing initiatives; led large teams and overseen huge television productions.
She has particular skills in media brand development and a track record building successful and high profile media brands.
Jacquie is presently the Director of Public Engagement at the Art Gallery of NSW. Most recently, she was the Director of Marketing and Communications for Barangaroo, the new harbour side park and urban precinct being created in Sydney’s CBD.
She was the Director of Marketing at SBS for the 6 years, leading a large division responsible for the brand management, creative direction, audience research, content strategy, advertising and promotion of SBS TV, radio and online. Her work at SBS included development of the organisation’s new brand platform ‘Six (now Seven) Billion Stories and counting…’ as well as the creation of arts channel STUDIO, and has won numerous international creative awards.

In her previous role as General Manager of XYZnetworks’ 4 high profile music channels (Channel [V], Max, Country Music Channel and Club [V]), she was responsible for developing the strategy and creating the channels and leading many landmark content initiatives including the Band in a Bubble, Max Sessions, the annual Channel [V] Bus tour and coverage of the Big Day Out festival, Australia’s largest television music production.
Before joining XYZnetworks, Jacquie was the Network Program Director and previously Network Marketing Manager for Triple J. While there, she led the network’s expansion across Australia, created the famous drum logo, and was instrumental in the development of the Beat the Drum, Unearthed and Hottest 100 promotional concepts.
Jacquie was appointed by the ABC’s Managing Director to lead a large project creating a new, centralised marketing division for the Corporation and introduced strategic marketing planning into the ABC for the first time.
Jacquie is highly experienced in digital media creation, having created social media strategies, web sites, mobile initiatives, consumer databases, digital/ITV television applications and mobile apps.
She is on the board of the Australia Korea Foundation and does pro bono work for several organisations.
When not changing the landscape with new ideas, she can be found in the bush around a campfire, tending to her native garden, or in the waves with the kids.
