At its core journalism is about telling the public and the polity what is really going on, not what spin doctors and media manipulators may want you to believe. The practice of journalism requires skill, courage, experience, wit, fairness and ethical commitment. Journalism never stops.  Quentin Dempster, 2014 chairman, Walkley Advisory Board

Volunteering at The Walkley Foundation is an exciting opportunity for Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA) members, freelancers and university students to network with some of the biggest names in the industry while accessing professional development at our premier events and award programs.

INTERNSHIPS

Are you a final-year student in a journalism, media and communications, public relations, digital media or photojournalism degree, hungry for a foot in the door that might seem slammed shut? Come and intern at The Walkley Foundation!

SCHOLARSHIPS

The Jacoby-Walkley Scholarship, established with generous support from Anita Jacoby, offers final-year university students and recent graduates with a passion for TV journalism a fighting start in the competitive media industry.

ASIA PACIFIC PROGRAM

The Walkley Foundation regularly develops new programs and opportunities for journalists wanting to take their skills to the next level in both Australia and overseas.

WOMEN IN MEDIA

Women in Media is a national networking and mentoring initiative created to increase networking opportunities, improve workforce outcomes and provide valuable mentoring from senior industry leaders for younger and mid-career women in the media industry.

Grants

The Walkley Grants for Innovation in Journalism are back and bigger than ever. Thanks to our partners at Google Australia and Copyright Agency, this year there’s a pool of $70,000 in funding available.
