Media In The Pub is back in all its unpredictable glory on Tuesday, November 24 at the Clarendon Hotel, Surry Hills – just two days out from the Walkley Awards.

After ABC boss Mark Scott’s landmark speech on the fall of Murdoch’s empire for the AN Smith Memorial Lecture in Journalism at the University of Melbourne, the question still remains: will people pay for news?

The next instalment of Media In The Pub will address this from an industry standpoint, with an interactive pitch session, designed to get us thinking about viable business models – with the added incentive of icy cold beers to help the creative process.

Pitchers will get a few minutes to outline a business model for a news/journalism enterprise which covers;

  • What resources their business needs
  • How much money they’ll make (if it’s a profit model)
  • Where the money will come from
  • How long it’ll take to get out of the red.

Formalities kick off at 7pm so be sure to head down early for a delicious Clarendon chicken burger, tried and taste-tested by your very own Walkley team at the last gathering. Four stars.
