Tell us what you want to see and do at Storyology 2017

Storyology is back and kicking off in Brisbane this August 24-26, 2017 (+ programming in Melbourne and Sydney, Aug 28-30). As we plan the program, we want your ideas for the topics, speakers and stories that will make 2017 our best journalism festival yet.

Storyology 2016 attracted nearly 500 media professionals and storytellers, from five continents and every medium; thousands more played along at home on our blog or social media. See last year’s schedule.

Speaker contributions are volunteered. For international and out-of-town speakers: We have a very (very!) limited travel budget to help with local costs in Australia.

Our big questions: How do we tell brilliant stories — and make a living at it? How is storytelling changing? How do we build sustainable models for journalism? And this year, more than ever: What’s happening to journalism itself, and what’s the place of journalism in our society, democracy and culture?

Journalism is at the heart of our discussion at Storyology — but things really get creative when we hear from other disciplines. Tip us off or pitch your heart out — journalists, authors, artists, screenwriters, multimedia producers, filmmakers, photographers, podcasters, songwriters, entrepreneurs, data nerds, activists, dreamers and firebrands. In 2017, we want to see engaging, diverse and surprising voices.

Deadline March 17.
