Both great supporters of press freedom, Nine Network Today Show co-host Lisa Wilkinson and journalist and author Peter FitzSimons have agreed to host two dinners to help raise funds to support journalists at risk throughout the Asia Pacific region.
The who’s who of Australia’s media will gather at Doltone House in Sydney on May 2 to honour World Press Freedom Day and fundraise for colleagues in need. Australia’s biggest-selling non-fiction author of the last ten years, Peter FitzSimons is a journalist with The Sydney Morning Herald and Sun Herald. He is also a regular http://whereslloyd.com/cls TV commentator, a former radio presenter with Mike Carlton on Radio 2UE and former Wallaby, playing seven Tests for Australia. Peter’s written more than 20 books including Tobruk, Kokoda, Batavia, Mawson and the Ice Men of the Heroic Age and biographies of Nancy Wake‚ Kim Beazley‚ Nick Farr-Jones‚ Les Darcy, Steve Waugh and John Eales.

For more than three decades, Lisa has blazed a trail through the Australian media landscape, having excelled in all its forms: from setting the record as the youngest editor ever of a major national women’s magazine when she took the top job at Dolly at just 21 and managed to almost triple the circulation, to being headhunted by Kerry Packer to run Cleo for ten of its most successful years.
Next came radio, alongside Doug Mulray then Mike Carlton, and TV, from Beauty and The Beast, to hosting Weekend Sunrise, and for the last seven years co-hosting the Today Show on Channel Nine. More recently, Lisa excelled as the second-only female journalist asked to deliver the Andrew Olle lecture (2013).
