Harrison Saragossi is a documentary photographer based in Brisbane, Queensland. He has a particular interest in social issues. His work often reflects and challenges the way people behave, and are treated, because of cultural values and expectations. He was named as one of Australia’s top ten emerging photographers in 2009 and has been a finalist in many awards including The Projections, 2high Art Festival and the Olive Cotton Award for Photographic Portraiture. Internationally he has been a part of several exhibitions including the PMA imaging convention, Las Vegas, Prix de la Photographie, Paris, and the PIEA International Travelling Photo Exhibition.

Judges’ comments:

“The strength of Harrison’s self assigned entry comes from his strictly observational approach and his dedication to be out there over the course of six months. Harrison worked bravely in a potentially dangerous environment to skilfully convert fleeting opportunities into an emotive and refreshingly honest series of photographs.”
