Young Journalist of the Year Awards
Online journalism

Asher Moses (@ashermoses) started his own gadget review website over 10 years ago at age 14 and has since written news, features and reviews for most of Australia’s leading technology publications. His work over the past five years at Fairfax Digital – most recently as its national Technology Editor – has won him a swag of awards including several IT Journalism awards (such as Best Consumer Technology Journalist for the past two years in a row) and the Walkley Foundation’s Young Australian Online Journalist of the Year Award in 2008. Last year, he was again a finalist for Young Australian Journalist of the Year.

Judges’ comments:

“Asher has been the stand-out in the online category yet again. His pursuit of dodgy practices at Vodafone, led to a large dealer shutting down just a day after his story was published. He has skilfully pursued complex investigative journalism, while continuing to meet other daily deadlines. His work shows a smart use of social media as a research tool.”
