Currently the ABC Open producer for Southern Queensland, Miranda Grant (@mirandasgrant) has worked as a video journalist in Mongolia, PNG, Ethiopia and the Northern Territory. In Port Moresby, Miranda produced a feature-length documentary about gender and violence, funded through AusAID. Before this, Miranda was producer and presenter of a weekly youth television show for the Mongolian National Broadcaster. Miranda has also produced videos for PAW Media, Amnesty International, Women’s World Banking and the Asia-Pacific Youth Network and was Associate Producer for the adventure documentary Four Strokes of Luck. To this day, Miranda remains a B-grade celebrity across the steppes of Mongolia.

“Miranda Grant sets a wonderful example for online and broadcast journalists in her sustained coverage of a community devastated by Queensland floods. She drives citizen journalism forward by not only collecting and editing user-generated content but by teaching community members how to create it. Her use of innovative video demonstrates a deep understanding of the online medium and how best to present digital storytelling.”
