Monetising journalism is one of our industry’s greatest challenges. Many newsroom leaders navigate this journey on their own, and it’s not always clear where to go for information. This webinar will introduce you to useful sources and organisations that can help.

Panellists

Becca Aaronson, Chief Product Officer, News Product Alliance. In 2019, Becca co-founded the News Product Alliance, a global community that aims to help news professionals develop a ‘product’ mindset and create editorial and non-editorial products to drive revenue. The Alliance runs a global virtual summit and maintains a vibrant Slack community that anyone can join.

Caroline Fisher, University of Canberra: Dr Caroline Fisher is an Associate Professor of Communication in the Faculty of Arts & Design.  She is a core member of the News and Media Research Centre and co-author of the annual Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism‘s Digital News Report: Australia. Prior to academia Caroline Fisher was a reporter, presenter and producer for ABC News and Radio National, and spent three years as a ministerial media adviser to Anna Bligh in the Queensland government.

Anna Draffin, Chief Executive Officer, Public Interest Journalism Initiative. The Public Interest Journalism Initiative (PIJI) is an independent think tank advancing the sustainability and diversity of news media in Australia. Anna was appointed CEO of PIJI in March 2020, having served as strategic advisor to the board since late 2019. She is a senior impact strategist, focused on policy and investment to drive economic and social returns across government, private and nonprofit sectors.
